Our Story

Established in late 2016 by Dave Double out of a passion for food and service. Having worked in restaurants, hotels, and large-scale venues since 2000 it was time to set up on his own.

Since 2020 Plenty of Thyme has quickly made a name for itself winning Best Independent Caterer at the Essex Wedding Awards for 2020 and 2023 along with The Wedding Business Awards Regional Winner for the Southeast 2020.

Plenty of Thyme is now recommended and nominated caterers at a variety of high-end venues throughout Essex including Hylands House, Tuffon Hall, That Amazing Place & Lodge Farm Barns.

We have large premises near Dunmow which has been awarded 5* hygiene from Uttlesford council for the last 4 years. We also have £10,000,000 in public liability insurance and all our staff have access to a wide range of training courses.

Wow! Plenty of Thyme provided the food for our wedding and honestly I cant begin to describe how delicious it was! We had a selection of canapes, followed by a two course wedding breakfast and everything was just incredible from start to finish. I've even had guests tell me that they've had dreams about the sticky toffee pudding and dauphinoise potatoes! Dave and his team in the kitchen provided flawless food whilst the rest of the waiting staff were professional and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble for these guys and the teams on the day management skills were invaluable. Thank you so much for being a big part of the reason why our wedding was the best day ever! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Dave and his entire team made our wedding!! They was the core of the wedding and we wouldn’t of had one without them , they supplied our breakfast the morning of the wedding for the bridal party to enjoy , catered for the entire wedding day , the canapés , sit down meal and bbq for the evening evening was all outstanding , and even came back the following day to cook us all breakfast which was much needed with sore heads but allowed us to reminisce the wedding day with our guests, We couldn’t fault anything the guests all loved the food , the plates where empty everywhere we looked so that says it’s all ! We had so many compliments on how good the food was, and it really was! The food was the talking point but there also was so much more they did for us I couldn’t fault a single thing and would recommend them over and over again! What an amazing team! Dave was so responsive from day one and really put our minds at ease, especially after having to rearrange our wedding due to Covid. We love to travel and wanted something a bit different for our wedding main. Dave created the most amazing bespoke dish and our guests still to this day mention how good the food was when we see them! Plenty of Thyme catered for my daughter's wedding at our home and were fantastic. From the very moment we started planning the team were very helpful and I felt that nothing would be too much trouble. The food was delicious and there was lots of it, we had canapes, shucked oysters and bowl food to start the reception, followed by a barbecue with salads, desserts and cheese. They also provided the wedding cake! The following day they returned, and miraculously turned everything around and provided pizzas, homemade ice cream, and a smoothie bar and bloody Mary's. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Plenty of Thyme.
